Video-performance registration. Van Herck uses the relations between body and image. The body is no longer an untouchable model, an entity of preference. It now carries the fantasies of the media. It is no longer a material body, but a weightless body, a gesture that develops into the abstract language of the media. The connection to reality becomes less direct: filtered in order to fascinate. The obligatory weight-filter snatches up a dumb-bell, fitted with two monitors instead of weights, on which his image appears, so that he seems to be lifting himself.
