’Rapt & Happy’  reminds of a diary, secretly enjoyed but having been let lying around by Vey Duke herself, waiting for it to be found. The video that gives an account of the whole range of domestic pleasures and terrors, is put together as a personal scrapbook consisting of snippets of homemovies, cartoonlike animation and voice overs that might just as well be confessional or fictional. ’Rapt & Happy’ stars Emily Vey Duke posing as herself, as a video artist and as any other character of choice. In acting this way, Vey Duke treats boldly issues such as image and self-image.
