DE VENNOTEN / LES SOCIÉTAIRES

In Kino, an ancient forgotten colony, King Chour has just passed away. Which of his two sons, Talou or Oumarou, will take his place on the throne ? An African fairytale format is brought in to corrupt documentary imagery, revealing its multiple, related meanings. As a fable on connections between art and politics, ’Les Sociétaires’ looks into the lives of blacksmiths - known to have economic, symbolical and military significance in African tradition. The film is an invitation to reinvest in what is real, beyond minor fiction.
