Film Screenings: Peeping Inside the Tower
Tabula Rasa unfolds in three parts, three Arkanas. Arkana I is represented by The Tower that is associated with transformation and awakening, a moment of revelation that clears away outdated structures depicted by the dramatic imagery of a tower being struck by lightning. This card signifies events that can feel shocking or even chaotic, but these experiences ultimately lead to new insights, growth and a stronger foundation.
Change, symbolised with The Tower, raises unavoidable questions: ‘who decides who decides’ and ‘what do we spare, what do we let go’? To stimulate this reflection and help us deconstruct to better reconstruct our institution - our “tower” - we’ve assembled a two-part film screening programme from the argos collection. The first part focuses on the power dynamics within art institutions and the second is a poetic note on the physicality of such a space.
